Have you all been totally mesmerized by the stories about the Iowa Caucuses. Well, guess what, Missouri will have its very own caucus process.

The date for the Missouri Caucuses is on Saturday, March 17, 2012 – St.Patrick’s Day. After Governor Nixon vetoed the original Presidential Primary date that the legislators had agreed on for early March and it was set back to February 7, 2012, the Missouri Republican Party decided to start the process of electing delegates for the National Nominating Convention in August in Tampa by using caucuses. Across the State of Missouri each county will have their own caucus on March 17, 2012, set their own rules and determine the time and place .

For St.Louis County, each Township will hold their very own caucus. Do you know what Township you are in? The Board of Election mailed new Voter Identification Cards several weeks ago after they completed the re-districting process. Your Township and Precinct is listed in the upper left hand corner. If you want to find out more details you should attend the Central Committee Meeting on Wendnesday, January 11, 2012 at the Government Center in Clayton at 7:30pm where they will discuss the caucus process for St.Louis county. Please note that there are no questions from the audience and you must sit behind the committeemen/women not amongst them.

If you want to call your committeman/women,  go to “http:/www.stlcountygop.org/township.php”.

The delegates elected on March 17, 2012 will go on to the Congressional District Convention on April 21, 2012 and the State Convention on June 1&2, 2012.

And by the way, there still will be a Presidential Primary on February 7, 2012. You can go and vote for your preferred candidate but it does not count and not all candidates are on the ballot.

The caucus process on March 17, 2012 should last several hours. Afterwards we can just all move to the next Pub and celebrate the Irish.
