McDreams: Obama Is Coming To Town For McCaskill
I coudn’t adequately express my feeling about the McCaskill/Obama fundraiser in words, so I decided to put my thoughts to song. Claire McCaskill is a big fan of Obama, but I bet you didn’t know how big a fan. Try to see how many times she has put aside her pretenses of being a moderate Democrat to do Obama’s bidding. I’m sure I missed a few.
Nate Silver Can’t Figure Out Why Obama’s Ratings Dropped
Nate Silver has a head-scratching post over at 538.com trying to analyze why Obama’s approval ratings dropped from 65 to 48 last year. Using complicated stasticial analysis and a broad-based search of stories and headlines, Nate comes to the conclusion there aren’t any pure fits to explain the major drops which occurred from the inauguration early March, and then May to Mid-August. One was the period immediately following his inauguration until about the first week in March; Obama’s ratings fell by about 5 points over this interval. The other was a longer period from the end of May through mid-August,…
Obama Finally Comes Around To Republican Spending Freeze Legislation
One of the problems with being a hack is when events and politicians turn on you, you get left holding the bag. In this case, the President plans to call for a three year spending freeze on domestic programs. FiredUp has provided me with a lot of fun research the last few days, but none more than this little nugget from April 1st. Blunt calls for five-year federal spending freeze Now to be fair, Blunt was asking for five years, and Obama is only asking for three, so I guess it’s really Republican Chuck Grassley’s three year freeze that Obama…
Does Brown’s victory kill ObamaCare?
While we celebrate Scott Brown’s victory and the broad message of voter anger that it signifies, we should remember that this does not automatically terminate ObamaCare and send Congress back to the drawing board. Why not? Because the Democrats still have enough votes to pass ObamaCare unless Republicans initiate and maintain a strong filibuster against [...]
The Bush blame game might be over
Democrats, in their desperation to save Obama’s failed presidency and to mask their incompetence in Congress, have stepped up their strategy of blaming every problem on Obama’s predecessor. Not only is this pathetic but it is also grossly inaccurate, and more people seem to be noticing.
Obama didn’t inherit a festering cauldron of problems from [...]
GWOT – GWB + BHO = PETN
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano reported that after nearly 12 minutes of investigation, her staff identified the above formula which enabled 23-year-old Umar Farouk Abdulmatallab to construct the explosive device used in his failed attempt to bring down Northwest Flight 253.
Ms. Napolitano said the young man is being held in criminal custody while her team [...]
Grading on the curve
When Oprah asked Obama how he graded his first year in office, he gave himself a “good, solid B-plus.”
Remember that time in high school after you played a really great game or gave an outstanding performance in a concert or play? Later in life, do you recall how proud you felt after closing an [...]
Reid drives another nail into our country’s coffin
Thousands of bloggers, columnists, and pundits have weighed in on the health care travesty wrought by Senator Reid and his pliable cronies over this past weekend. Rather than bore you with my thoughts, I just want to direct your attention to the best analysis I’ve seen today, namely, the WSJ editorial entitled Change Nobody Believes [...]
