Coffee Party Astroturfer Baxter Swilley Has Missouri Roots
Dan Riehl notices a bit of coffee party astroturf from a Democratic political operative in Chicago named Baxter Swilley. From this link we see a press release that is identical to one in Kansas City. And from Dan’s post, we see this guy named Swilley has worked for John Edward, Scott Lee Cohen, and the Chicago Olympics. Swilley was the political director for the John Edwards campaign in Missouri in 2004. He worked in depth with Jan Schakowsky in Illinois, taking charge of coordinating six campaign volunteers and organizing a 2500 person volunteer army to boost vote totals. His LinkedIn…
Proof McCaskill Is Telling The Truth About Obama Fundraiser
The Beacon has a second story out today, this one covering the McCaskill/Obama fundraiser scheduled for tomorrow. As fans and detractors of this blog know, I broke the story back on February 12th, and the story was confirmed on February 15th when McCaskill was asked about it on a call concerning Afghanistan. My narrative also shaped the agenda, as McCaskill was forced to make some weak claim the fundraiser was both for her and for Robin Carnahan. Obama has been to St Louis three times since Carnahan announced for US Senate, but he has made no attempt to help her…
McDreams: Obama Is Coming To Town For McCaskill
I coudn’t adequately express my feeling about the McCaskill/Obama fundraiser in words, so I decided to put my thoughts to song. Claire McCaskill is a big fan of Obama, but I bet you didn’t know how big a fan. Try to see how many times she has put aside her pretenses of being a moderate Democrat to do Obama’s bidding. I’m sure I missed a few.
FiredUp Lets McCaskill Know That Wind Farms Are Important To The Family
Why I’d never thought I’d see the day. FiredUp Missouri, (known around these parts as the Carnahan family blog), publishes a video from VoteVets taking a slap at Claire McCaskill. The video, which continues the disgusting insinuation that not voting for the Enron-trading-inspired Cap-and-Trade bill is killing American soldiers, is a particularly nasty attack against a fellow Democrat. Why would FiredUp post this video? And if they posted it, why didn’t they mention the ad was attacking Claire McCaskill? It’s pretty simple. Claire McCaskill has been backing away from Cap-and-Trade, seeing as she comes from a coal-powered state, and with…
24thstate Scoop Alters McCaskill’s Fundraising Plans
Remember that scoop about Obama coming to town for a McCaskill fundraiser? My newshounds gathered the info to publish several days before it appeared in the Post Dispatch, but that’s not even the best part. The only reason the news was reported in the Post Dispatch was because reporters on a conference call with McCaskill asked about Obama coming to town, and McCaskill was forced to admit it. The call was about her trip to Afghanistan – the fundraiser was a non sequiter, and it’s clear that this blog’s reporting drove the story. But something is not cleared up. I…
Nate Silver Can’t Figure Out Why Obama’s Ratings Dropped
Nate Silver has a head-scratching post over at 538.com trying to analyze why Obama’s approval ratings dropped from 65 to 48 last year. Using complicated stasticial analysis and a broad-based search of stories and headlines, Nate comes to the conclusion there aren’t any pure fits to explain the major drops which occurred from the inauguration early March, and then May to Mid-August. One was the period immediately following his inauguration until about the first week in March; Obama’s ratings fell by about 5 points over this interval. The other was a longer period from the end of May through mid-August,…
I Gotta Get This Song
Verum Serum lays the smack down on healthcare reform. But it’s not over. They’re still trying to pass it with a perverted version of reconciliation. McCaskill has to know that voting to bring this monstrosity to Obama’s desk will end her career in 2012. No Quarter.
Obama Finally Comes Around To Republican Spending Freeze Legislation
One of the problems with being a hack is when events and politicians turn on you, you get left holding the bag. In this case, the President plans to call for a three year spending freeze on domestic programs. FiredUp has provided me with a lot of fun research the last few days, but none more than this little nugget from April 1st. Blunt calls for five-year federal spending freeze Now to be fair, Blunt was asking for five years, and Obama is only asking for three, so I guess it’s really Republican Chuck Grassley’s three year freeze that Obama…

Does Brown’s victory kill ObamaCare?
While we celebrate Scott Brown’s victory and the broad message of voter anger that it signifies, we should remember that this does not automatically terminate ObamaCare and send Congress back to the drawing board. Why not? Because the Democrats still have enough votes to pass ObamaCare unless Republicans initiate and maintain a strong filibuster against [...]
