Guess Who Think’s Obama’s Tone Deaf?
Well, you and I, of course. But who else? The recession redo, paid for by the nonprofit White House Historical Association, was the latest tone-deaf move by a White House that was supposed to excel at connection and communication. Message: I care, but not enough to stop the fancy vacations and posh renovations. As Obama [...]
Repealing the 17th Amendment Is A Hard Sell
Over at The Missouri Record, David Linton argues in favor of repealing the 17th Amendment which allows the direct election of Senators. I agree, but I think this is going to be a hard sell to the American public which has come to believe that the key to an open government is more and more transparency and direct accountability of officials, where more and more citizen votes means better and better government. Of course, this more accountable system allows incumbents to go to Washington, vote for government expansion for five years, and return home just before the election to claim…

Families USA Says Its The Propaganda Machine Behind The White House
Out of the mouths of babes, eh? There’s a reason you don’t let interns handle your social media. One such intern, a Mark Durham out in D.C., took exception to a series I’m developing on Families USA and their connections to SEIU and the White House. This young man tells us how Families USA, instead of being a non-partisan, independent think tank on health care issues, in truth is the propaganda organ behind every healthcare story to come out of the White House. From the WSJ: We’ve also been working pretty closely with the White House on implementation of the…

Josh Gerstein of POLITICO.com has the picture above in his post: Don’t look, birthers: Obama’s passport:
Here’s something new for the birthers to chew over: President Barack Obama’s passport. Says he was born in Hawaii! But the White House has strateg…

McCaskill Not Only Out Of Touch With Constituents, Apparently Not Visiting Reality For Town Hall Meetings Enough Either
The Springfield News-Leader put a piece above the fold front page on Sunday that highlighted the differences between Senator Claire McCaskill and Senator Kit Bond. I’m a little unclear whether this remark is the setup or the punchline for a joke: McCaskill’s office said that while she and Bond sometimes cancel out each other’s votes, it’s usually because McCaskill opposes spending bills that go too far or legislation that isn’t fully paid for. "When the two senators differ in their voting, Sen. McCaskill is the one coming down on the side of fiscal responsibility," spokeswoman Maria Speiser said. Uh huh….

Seventy-one percent of Missourians who went to the polls in the state’s primary election Tuesday voted in favor of the proposal that would put state [...]
Mapping Obama’s Mistakes
Jay Cost at RealClearPolitics’ Horse Race Blog talks about What Went Wrong with Obama?:
Obama simply lacked the broad appeal to guide the House’s liberal proposal through the Senate. So, the result of ‘going big’ was an initially liberal House product …
