San Jose police chief Chris Moore has decided to end two month long partnership with federal ICE officials that was targeting illegal alien gangs who were murdering citizens of his community. Even though murders by the gangs has dropped from 14 in the first 5 1/2 months of the year to ZERO in the two months since the partnership was launched. San Jose enrolled in this joint program, deemed “Operation Community Shield”, because gang violence and murder had skyrocketed to the highest levels in decades.
The partnership has been extremely successful in California’s third-largest city and there has been a dramatic drop in gang killings, according to a local news report that cites police data. The local-federal alliance has helped crack down on gang violence and led to the arrest of hundreds of dangerous gang members in a matter of weeks. In fact, in the first 5 ½ months of the year San Jose had 14 gang homicides but zero in the two months of Operation Community Shield. The city is the safest it has been in years.
Unfortunately, the joint program has been brought to an abrupt end-without concern for the citizens who live there legally-due to the concerns of the “open borders” crowd and the group Services Immigrant Rights and Education Network (SIREN). This group mobilized a campaign against ICE and the Community Shield program claiming “innocent” illegal aliens would get caught up in the campaign and reminding the Chief he had “vowed never to enforce immigration laws”.
It is a shame that this group seems only to care for those who are in this country illegally-they are not innocent, they broke our laws by coming here-yet they care nothing for the truly innocent people being murdered in the street by those innocents SIREN wants to protect. They provide no evidence that anyone who did not deserve to be deported was and yet this is the meme they promote to put a stop to enforcement of the law. The fact of the matter is SIREN can disagree with the laws all they want, but until the law is changed police chiefs and law enforcement officials across this country must enforce the law and do what is right for the citizens of America.
