You Have Won the Salvatori Prize for American Citizenship
Today I received a package from The Heritage Foundation containing this certificate.
From the forwarding letter:
It is our pleasure to award the 2010 Salvatori Prize for American Citizenship to the citizen-patriots of the Tea Party Movement.
Previous recipients of the Prize included author David McCullogh (2009), Princeton University professor Robert P. George (2008), and the founders of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies (2007).
This year, because of the significance of the Tea Party movement—brining America’s first principles to the fore of public policy debate, motivating million of their fellow Americans to get involved in the effort to revive those principles, and reinvigorating the larger movement in the United States to reorient American politics toward those principles—the 2010 Henry Salvatori Prize for American Citizenship has been awarded to the Tea Party movement, and honors all those American citizens nationwide who are newly committed to the renewal of American liberty.
Appropriate for a spontaneous, nationwide movement, the Prize does not recognize any one individual or group. Instead, the award will be used to deepen a commitment to and advocacy of America’s first principles through the popular distribution of pocket Constitutions and educational materials.
Folks, I have tears in my eyes as I write this. The Heritage Foundation has been a curator of American political thinking all my adult life. The Heritage Foundation produced Reagan’s kitchen cabinet, and it supplies our pocket Constitutions for the Liberty Evangelism project, now in fifteen states and growing.

I have received all the honors I need from the people who read this blog, attend tea parties, evangelize liberty, serve as block captains, write letters, register and vote, and advance first principles. But I am so happy to pass this honor onto you. Congratulations.
Its nice that the Heritage Foundation recognizes what real Americans Citizens are supposed to be doing. Thanks Bill for all the Hard work and to all of those that I have stood Shoulder to Shoulder with since the beginning… A nicer more intelligent bunch of Americans would be hard to find. I would go to Hell and back with any of you.
Congrats to all..
Truly Golden… I am so grateful for the opportunity to contribute, so proud of all we have accomplished thus far, in unity we move forward saving our great country.

We wouldn’t have a St. Louis Tea Party were it not for the efforts of people like Bill Hennessy, Dana Loesch, Jim Holt, Kevin Jackson, Gina Loudon…to name a few. We extend our deepest thanks. And we wouldn’t have a movement at all were it not for the rants of Rick Santelli in Chicago, who actually started this whole process. Having attended the very first “party” at the Arch last year and so many throughout the past year, one thing is so very clear. Our nation is in deep trouble and it is time the American public take back the country we so dearly love. The Tea Party movement allows citizens from all walks of life to band together for one cause…..we want to stop Socialism from destroying our free nation. We want LESS government intervention, strong national defense, smaller government, fewer taxes, and a Congress and president who OBEY the Constitution of the United States. May God help us in this fight as we celebrate tomorrow the right to be free.
Not to argue, but I am nothing. Seriously. I do tire. I whine and complain. I throw fits. I post angry blogs that expose my countless flaws.
The Heritage Foundation appropriately and wisely honored you, the people who give life and breath to this movement, this continuing American revolution. Heritage used “leaders” only to get the word out. In a sense, I’m just a reporter.
Congratulations, and thank you. Keep fighting. Victory is in our grasp. I can smell it.
