Hum. Interesting concept and thank you for sharing this info. Just a couple of questions though. How is this going to work if there is a Dem that is more moderate than a Repub that is very left leaning example, Mark Kirk.
We in the Alton T.E.A. Party and a few other T.E.A. Parties in IL are working on a letter that will be presented to Mark Kirk..a contract between he and the people of the T.E.A. Parties (the people) and we want him to sign it in public with coverage and that is one way we can hold his feet to the fire.
I am still working on the letter and we have a ways to go on it but it is important if we are going to support him. I am not sure we can swallow our pride and our values to vote him in office just because he is a Repub.
How did this group get picked and together? Was there any input from anyone other than the six of you? Is this something that we are suppose to buy into just because we are told this is the right thing? Does this not go against the T.E.A. Party aim and values?
Please understand, I am not against this but I am getting these questions out and answered because it will come up with other T.E.A. groups and the people that are a part of them. 912ers will also have questions so just trying to cover before it becomes a big issue.
One more question, are T.E.A. parties still non partisan? I am not sure we will be able to reach all conservatives and independents if we are following this PAC that sounds all Republican. Just need to know.
Thanks for your time and help in answering these questions.
    Sincerely,
    Rhonda Linders

      Rhonda,

I think understand what motivates your questions. I would raise them myself. I tried to think of all the questions people might ask while I composed this piece, but I knew I wouldn’t get them all.

On the question of whom we’ll support, the answer’s pretty simple: we support those who support us. We cannot be involved in more than 15 to 20 races, so we will not simply support all the Republicans. In races where primary voters have given us the choice between two evils, we will simply disengage. There will be enough high-caliber, conservative candidates to support.

On the question of who else is involved, the list is huge. We talk to a lot of people we trust–people who have been involved in this movement for a year, and people who’ve been hardcore conservative activists for decades. The six people listed set the direction and make the decisions. It’s up to us to pick the right races.

We intentionally chose a core team of non-Washington, grassroots activists who have some degree of credibility with the larger Tea Party movement. We are also dedicated to winning in 2010 so that we don’t have to find out whether or not the current ruling class is bent on replacing our democratic-republic with a national socialist nightmare. Victory in our fight against statism is our first principle.

You will see us fight as we did for Hoffman, Brown, and Andrzejewski. We will fight the good fight and we will fight to win big. We do not wish to simply reach a governing agreement with the statists; we intend to bury them.

Thanks for the questions, and please continue to ask. We’re new at this sort of thing. (Seems like I’m always embarking on new things.) These questions will help us, too.

I’m excited to read about this. For too long “we the people” have been marginalized by the elite in Washington. We will never make headway unless we unite against the forces that would silence us. We are fortunate enough to be in a position where a return to our Constitutional principles can be done peacefully. We only need to work within the system. It seems to me that this ELPAC will do just that. By the grace of God, they can help to unite a rag tag band of patriots into a force to be reckonned with. We will not be marginalized anymore! We’re coming for YOU Washington!

We owe a great debt of gratitude to Bill Hennessy and Dana Loesch and others who are willing and able to organize true grassroots movements such as the Tea Parties.

I would like to see prospective candidates sign a Bill of Congressional Responsibilities:

    1) I pledge to represent the will of the people of my district(state)above all other interests.
    2) I pledge to serve no more than twelve years in Congress.
    3) I pledge to hold the Constitution of the United States of America as the Supreme law of the land and reject any and all sub-ordination of it to any international body.
    4) I acknowledge my main responsibility is to protect the American people from all enemies foreign and domestic. Given this fact I will support a declaration of war on Islamic terrorism. I further support stricter and enforced laws on illegal immigration.
5)I pledge to initiate and/or support a balanced budget amendment.
    6) I acknowledge energy independence is essential to our national security and a keystone of our national economy. Therefore I will support the unrestricted development of all energy sources within the United States and her territories.
    7) I pledge to initiate and/or support a nwe income tax structure that is flat, fair and all-inclusive.
    8) I pledge to publically acknowledge any and all correspondence and requests from any special interest group or lobbyist.
    9) I pledge to renounce any and all benefits provided to members of Congress that exceed similar benefits of my constituents. I further renounce any and all retirement benefits and will initiate and/or support a bill fixing the pay of Congress at no more than twice the natioanl average median income.
    10) I will initiate and/or support the establsihment of an independent ethics committee, consisting of a rotating group of national constituents whose sole purpose will be to monitor and when necessary: advise, warn, censure or call for the expulsion of members of Congress who fail in their duties.

In 2010 there will be 36 Senate races along with the 435 house races. These 471 contests represent the ability to change 88% of Congress in a single election.
We must require those who wish to represent us to willingly subjugate their desires to our demands. They must learn to fear the electorate and perform their duties as Congressmen and Congresswomen for the love of their country, the benefit of their constituents and the future of our progeny

What are your criteria going to be for selecting candidates to support?

Are you looking for candidates who want to cut government spending, across the board, or are you looking for candidates that want to cut ‘domestic spending’, but want to keep ‘military spending’ at it’s current levels?
