MSM Ignoring Massachusetts Senate Race
When the MSM thinks its side is losing, it ignores the issue altogether.
- Ignored the Van Jones story until AFTER Van Jones resigned
- Ignored Kevin Jennings and Fistgate
- Ignored ClimateGate
- More . . .
It’s reasonable, then, to use the MSM treatment of a story as a barometer of the story’s merit. If it’s getting a lot of attention, it’s good for statist, collectivists, communists, and socialists. If it’s getting no attention, it’s good for the United States, conservatism, the American Ideal, the Constitution, ordinary people, etc.
I just took a look at the at front pages of CNN.com, NYTimes.com, and MSNBC.com to see how they were treating the Massachusetts Senate race.
They’re not.
Remarkably, CNN and MSNBC did not have a single link or mention of the race on their landing pages. None. Zip. silence. Understandably, the horror in Haiti
leads the news, but you’d think the Politics sections would lead with the most important election since 2008, wouldn’t you? Here’s CNN’s Politics headlines as of 12:14 p.m. Central. All the headlines are from Friday. CNN has willfully ignored two new polls, including the Democrat Coakley’s internal poll, that find Brown ahead of Coakley by 2-3 points.
More remarkably, both networks are ignoring the travels of their god-hero President to Massachusetts in a last-ditch effort to save Coakley. Previously, they’ve reported on Obama stepping out into the Rose Garden for quick smoke. They breathlessly followed his travels to NY-23 on behalf of Democrat Bill Owens. But they ignore Obama in Mass?
MSNBC doesn’t have a Politics call out, but they do have a More news section for the top stories that don’t earn front-page attention. Surely, the most anticipate senate race in at least 8 years belongs here, right?
Wrong. Once again, MSNBC is silent.
New York Times has a single story below the fold. On ABCNews.com, though, you’ll find a story. You’ll have to scroll and scroll and scroll on their very long landing page, but you’ll see it. And the ABC headline is powerful in explaining why the leftist press in America ignores Massachusetts:
The Democrats could still save the seat with election fraud. The beat Coleman in Minnesota that way, and everybody knows it. But the MSM know that the Obama era is over. The American people sobered up during the August Recess. The Tea Party movement kept politics in the spotlight during the month when political reporters usually take extended vacations, and that attention has made all the difference.
However the vote turns out on Tuesday, Obama and Democrats lost. Business folks who donate to the winner will flood GOP and conservative candidates with donations. The Democrats will have hard time raising money. And their allies in the media, while not turning on their god-heroes, will ignore the 2010 elections altogether.
