Lamar Wells and House Calls
Band of Political Warriors
Doug Hoffman’s brief but remarkable campaign for the US House against liberals from both major parties lacked many of the resources available to most modern candidates. What it had in abundance, though, was passion.
Lamar Wells leads a band of 9-12 Project folks in upstate New York. Three weeks ago, the Hoffman campaign, unable to cover all of the district with canvassers and staffers, put out the call for volunteers. Lamar didn’t perform a risk/benefit analysis. He raised his hand, knowing that the passionate folks in his 9-12 club would rise to the occasion.
They did. Working day and night, using up vacation days intended for more personal pursuits, and sleeping when they could, Lamar’s 9-12 Project team delivered all 3 counties in its jurisdiction for Hoffman. Their tireless efforts, their “attack” mentality, their commitment to move forward made Hoffman’s mad dash as close as it was.
Take a moment to thank this band of political warriors. Their example will show us all the way in 2010.
House Calls
Today is the House Call on Congress. In Washington, Michele Bachmann will host thousands of patriotic, concerned citizens. They will hear from great speakers, including Mark Levin, on the Capitol Steps, then they’ll knock on doors in Congressional office buildings to tell members of Congress to their faces that we WILL NOT STAND FOR a Washington takeover of healthcare.
In St. Louis, Carl Bearden is leading the House Call at Rep. Russ Carnahan’s office on Manchester at Brentwood Blvd. at noon. St. Louis is an anchor city for this event, so plan on getting national TV coverage if you can get their. What better way to spend your lunch?
Think you can’t make a difference? The President swore he’d takeover your healthcare by the August recess. You stopped him. Then he swore he’d do in September. You stopped him. Then he stopped giving dates. So Nancy Pelosi swore she’d takeover your healthcare in October. You stopped her. Then she said she do it by Friday of this week. Now she says Saturday.
When members of Congress and their staffs cannot navigate the halls of Washington because of the constituents scouring the corridors, you can bet the Blue Dogs, already in fear of their political lives, will tell Nancy “no way.”
St. Louis area sent a bus and a 7 mini-van caravan to DC. A gentleman who was at the Organizing for America opening last night caught a flight to DC this morning. Like Lamar Wells’s warriors, the healthcare battle has heroes galore.
If you cannot attend any of the House Calls today, you can pray that our message reaches open ears and minds. And for a safe trip for the patriots.
