PRESS RELEASE:
Paramus, New Jersey — October 1, 2009/ ( http://www.myprgenie.com ) — Continuing the success of the Whole Foods “Buy-cott” campaign, the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition announced today that it will conduct its first “Buy-cott” in the Garden State this coming Monday, October 5 at the Whole Foods store in Paramus, New Jersey. Recent “Buy-cotts” in St. Louis and Dallas generated record sales for local Whole Foods stores, with the St. Louis store racking up an additional $45,000 in revenue in a four hour period exclusively attributable to participating Tea Party Movement shoppers.
John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, came under fire and economic retaliation from Obamacare proponents after penning an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal opposing the legislation and favoring free market solutions to the health care reform question.
The “Buy-cott” will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm this Monday, October 5, at the Whole Foods store located at 300 Bergen Town Center in Paramus, New Jersey and is being organized by several Garden State residents who’ve been active in the Tea Party Movement since its inception. Gina Loudon of St. Louis, Missouri, who conceived the Tea Party “Buy-cott” concept and website at http://www.teapartybuycott.com , will be attending the event to provide support on behalf of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition.
Michael Patrick Leahy, national spokesperson for the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition said “We’ve proven in St. Louis, Dallas, and Los Angeles that we can take the Alinsky boycott tactic, turn it around, and apply it for a constructive rather than destructive purpose. We are making a positive statement of support for CEOs like John Mackey who practice free market principles in the real world. We’re showing that fiscally conservative Americans have purchasing power and are more than willing to deliver that purchasing power to the cash registers of great companies that support free enterprise. We’re starting the “Buy-cott” campaign with Whole Foods, but we will support any companies that truly practice free market principles in the conduct of their business. ”
The national leadership team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition includes many of thelocal and national organizers of the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Party, which was attended by anestimated one million Americans in over 900 cities.
