Obama Fails Common Sense Test . . . and math
Besides the fact that many Americans don’t trust Barack Obama, his attempt to recover the healthcontrol debate failed on many counts.
Common Sense: The president failed common sense test on several counts:
- He made no attempt to explain how he can insure 30 million more people with the same number of doctors while spending less money
- He made no attempt to explain how the government will reduce waste in Medicare when government has been running Medicare since day one.
- He made to attempt to explain how he can reduce medical spending without rationing and freezing medical wages.
- He failed to convince anyone that he believes in tort reform to cut costs, nor did he make tort reform a requirement.
- He claimed that his plan would not add a dime to the deficit, yet he admitted that it would cost $900 billion even under the rosiest, unrealistic scenario
- He claimed the plan is both budget neutral and budget saving—impossible
Falsehoods: The president blatantly lied or concealed pertinent facts on several points:
- He failed to mention the fact the the House bill gives business financial incentives—as much as $12,000 per employee per year—to force employees onto public option
- He falsified the arguments of opponents regarding end of life care
- He concealed the fact that the House bill gives authority to write actual rules to a czar appointed by the president
- He concealed the CBO estimates that directly contradict his claims of budget neutrality
The president’s biggest problem – the reason his approval rating has plummeted more than any president in history at the start of a presidency—is because we don’t believe people who fail the common sense test. Obama fails that test over and over, and tonight’s speech only made that problem worse.
Congress may very well pass a Washington takeover of healthcare, but doing so will doom the president and his party to a Carter-like crash.
Flood Congress with phone calls tonight. Here’s a convenient list of numbers for the Missouri and Illinois delegations. Let them know that the president failed the common sense test.
Leave a message. Let them know you couldn’t wait til morning.
