Independence Day Tea Party in Washington, MO
Washington’s Rennick Riverfront Park was home to the 2009 Independence Day Tea Party. Over 3,000 heard a stirring recitation of the Declaration of Independence, the National Anthem sung by 13-year-old Lyda Loudon, speeches from several Tea Party leaders, and music from Trilogy. But a small business owner stole the show.
Randy McArthur of McArthur’s Bakery in South St. Louis County recently took on Democrat Congressman Russ Carnahan over Cap and Trade, a scheme by the Obama administration and Goldman Sachs bank to impose a $700 billion to $2.1 trillion tax on electricity, gasoline, and other necessities. The legislation would sink thousands of small businesses, including McArthur’s. Randy’s stirring speech brought the crowd to its feet for a 2-minute standing ovation.
Other speakers included Gateway Pundit, Dana Loesch, Gina Loudon, Bill Hennessy, Curtis Kalin, and Ed Martin, Jr. Diane Jones of KPLW 1220 AM in Washington served as emcee for the event. Read more at Gateway Pundit.

Has anyone discussed organizing protests for the future votes in the House for healthcare tax (reform?) and the Senate vote for Cap and Tax? They are promising to vote before their August recess. We need to be out in force at our local senators offices and congressional offices. We have to put pressure on them!!! They are ignoring our emails and phone calls!!!
I suggest a careful approach to the All Star Game protest. We should protest in such a way that it does not detract from the event, but adds to our goals. I suggest encouraging all who attend to wear a certain color. My suggestion would be yellow, after the “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. Can you imagine a stadium filled with people wearing yellow? It would be hard for the announcers to ignore! It would work for anyone, from any city, supporting any team, to come together to call for better government!

Terry,
We won’t actually be able to get into the game. We’ll be protesting outside. We will use a street theatre approach to the event–no picketing or shouting. The idea is to draw a big crowd, then give the message powerfully.
I hope you can attend.
Thanks,
Bill
Well I was going to comment that we should be discreet at the ball game but it looks like Bill has already fixed this. That is good news to me and prudent. It will help not alienate the independents who are not so keen on bashing by name , let’s put the blame where it belongs, on all of congress. Just a large group gathered around a large billboard saying
the St. Louis Tea party to identify ourselves.
I’m sure someone has suggested this in the past, but here is something I would like to see. While I’m excited that we had so many Tea Parties throughout the State and across the Nation I think it is time for the big leagues. I would love to see all of our separate Tea Parties united under one flag so to speak at the state capitol. I believe it is much easier for the media to ignore us when we are spread throughout the state. Just a thought, appreciate any feedback.
