is anyone getting media coverage?
is there wireless in this park?
I don’t believe there is wireless at the park. There is a coffee shop two block south that does have wireless. Washington is a wonderful town. I hope everyone comes and enjoys our town.
We will have a connection to the nationwide tea party in Dallas, TX, via mobile WiFi. Press coverage will be sparse because of the holiday–you have to do something pretty stupid or pretty predictable to get news coverage on a major holiday.
The location, though, will yield excellent photo ops. Our major goal is to connect with people, make new friends, and share some tactics for moving us forward.
After two wildly successful events, it’s time to get together and relax. To celebrate the shining city on a hill. To thank those who’ve lost their youth and innocence preserving or advancing freedom.
It’s about time.
The tea party sounds great. I hope who ever is planning it anticipates the right crowd and prepares for water stations, jonney on the spots, parking, etc. You need some bands and food vendors to keep people there all day. You are going to have a hard time pulling people from the city or the subrubs to go to Washington but you will get a different group of people who may not have attended the other tea partys in the city. Make it happen. God’s speed to you all….
a trip to Washington is a must do… hate to think it would be too hard to pull from the suburbs or the city!!!
This is going to be a great opportunity to gather together with likeminded folk! Less of a PROTEST and more of an equipping of the troops session.
For any who balk at the drive out to Washington… it’s not that far, and it’s a nice place to visit! BE THERE!
Check out http://www.cafepress.com/rightthunder for conservative gear suitable for Tea Parties or anytime. Proceeds have gone to produce signs and flags for previous Tea Parties – and will continue to support the cause!
I really hope many will come. Our tax day Tea Party ended up with 700–1500 people was the estimate and I can tell you we had a great turn out and room for lots more! Washington really is not that far and it will be a great place to meet, celebrate and plan what comes next. We can send a message and I am sure that the Missourian will give us good coverage. We were on the front page after the Tax Day Tea Party. Most of the MSM is ignoring us regardless of where or the turn out. We have to fight in spite of them!
Washington is at the end of the Missouri wine trail and the beginning of the Hermann wine trail. If you want to stay overnight, I recommend a B&B or the Sleep Inn and Suites. The B&B’s are probably booked.
Washington is a great town, I am checking to see if two of my favorite places in downtown are planning to be open that day, one is Choco L’ Art http://www.mmmchocolart.com a fantastic little restaurant with outstanding food and dessert to die for, this is not fast food and well worth it! They also have great martinis and a nice wine list to wind down the day with. The best part is that Ray and Paula Harvey are conservative, patriotic Americans that are as distressed as we all are by the events unfolding in our nation. They are located one block up and two blocks down from the park on Main Street. For a great place to wind down and maybe meet with new found friends, this would be my recommendation! I recommend reservations.
We also have our own winery on the riverfront, La Dolce Vita, it is nice for lunch, good sandwiches and pizzettes and it is directly across from the park. Bob and Donna are great people. They have both indoor and patio seating.
Washington also has a great fireworks display!
My guess is you have lost the majority of Illinois supporters. I was at the April Tea Party and was really looking forward to this event. Now it isn’t even on my radar. Regardless, I hope there is a big crowd.
I am Ashamed at the Apparant Luke Warm Support from some Tea Party Members just because of the location of the July 4th Gathering.
Do You People Not Understand What We are Fighting For? Do You People Not realize this is Not Just Some Political movement that can be dismissed if it’s Inconvienant?
This Movement is bigger than the The Stimulus, Taxes or Political Parties. This is a movement to Organize and Stop the Enslavement of You and YOUR Children.
Slavery appears under many names: Socialism, Communism, Monarchy, Dictatorship, Excessive Taxation and TYRANNY.
How far will you Travel, What ends will you Go To Protect You and Your Children From your coming Enslavement? 2 Miles? Your Couch?
Is your Sense of Freedom So Weak that a Few extra Miles is your Limit? Does Freedom only exist in a radiuos of 10 feet around you?
Until we all understand that we Must be Willing lay it ALL on the Line be it Your Home, Your Job, Your Liberty and God Forbid even your Life for your Freedom and the Freedom of Future Generations will we be able to succeed. That is No More Than we ask of our Men and Women in the Military…It should be No Less than we Can Ask Of YOU.
If the Founders had the attitude of “it’s Too Far, or It’s Too Inconvienent” then we would Still be Subjects of the Crown Today.
Stop the Whining….Get off your Couch….Stop the Excuses…
History is Calling you…..
Are you An American?!?!
Or a Slave…….

Delighted to learn that the St. Louis Tea Party “coalition” is still rolling – we plan to attend the July 4th event.
Point #1: 6/25/2009 action alert – Call Lacy Clay’s office (D-St. Louis) regrding HR2454 the Waxman-Markey energy bill. His staffers say calls are running about 50:50 (I can’t believe that) and that the congressman is still undecided! His recent comments suggest he is concerned about the cost impacts on folks with fixed incomes and in poverty so comment on how concerned you are about these aspects.
Point #2: I saw a satellite view of Rennick Park in Washington, MO and am a little concerned. The park will hold the 41 people who have responded to the online poll but if we attract even half the crowd that attended the Arch Tea Party it looks like this tiny park will be totally swamped! I hope we have that problem but am I unduly concerned?
I would love to join you guys in Washington, but I have family stiff that I can not get out if. I may see if everyone would want to go and watch the fireworks, but I think we might be going to Grafton for that.
I will try and promote it and get more people there.
I do hope there’s a decent turn out, but it is unfortunate that this event is occurring so far from St. Louis.
Sure, not far by car or train, but as far as coverage, attention and getting the word out to more people I cannot see how this will accomplish anything at all.
“The media will ignore as anyway.” Huh? They didn’t ignore us last time. They just made fun of us.
At an isolated location far removed from St. Louis, this will convince no one and will be a gathering of everyone who already agrees with this stuff and no new minds will be changed. Getting together with like minded folks certainly feels nice, and lends itself to solidarity among attendees, but… don’t we already have that? This sounds like a bunch of people preaching to the choir, sitting around patting each other on the backs. Further this sends a message to anyone who hears or reads about this event that it’s all about “people who don’t live in the city.” “Ah…” they will say. “The super patriotic rednecks have gathered in the boonies to gladhand each other, and pat themselves on the back.” And that will be that. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with that at all, just giving my perspective on the absolutely horrible p.r. message this sends. I’m worried we’ll convince no one at this route, and that is precisely what we need to be doing: changing minds.
We couldn’t protest on the court house steps? Kiener Plaza? Really there was no where else??
Andrew,
As far as I can tell this is not a Protest on the 4th, it is a gathering. This is a Chance to Network with people of like Mind and have some fun. If the Media notices or not, to me, is not important.
From what I understand, and I have not talked to Bill or Dana(Nor am I privy to inside info), there was no other place to have it. St. Louis is not the only one having issues with finding locations. Tea parties across the Nation are Down due to a lack of enough locations. It is the 4th of July and Places that can Hold large Groups of People are reserved already.
As Far as being out in the Boonies, Washington is not the Boonies, it is a 15 to 20 minute Drive Past Six Flags. If people from the City can Drive to Six Flags for some Fun, then if they are Really serious about the Cause and Not Just “Weekend Patriots” then an extra 15 to 20 minutes should be no problem.
I know you are worried about what “They” are going to say, but in the end who cares. “They” have already called us Domestic Terrorists, Threats to the Nation, White Supremists and Unpatriotic. Why are we concerned about the Main Stream Media? If you want to make Our Voice be heard, bring your Laptop and Broadcast from the Event, bring your Camera, and Post video on You Tube. Interview People, Get involved….Nothing worth doing is easy or happens overnight. With Technology today, No Location is “Isolated”.
On September 12th there is a Group marching on Washington, I am not sure if the Tea Parties have officially endorsed that or not, but I am Still going…even if there is only 2 people…I will be one.
When those of us showed up at the First Tea Party most of us thought that there would only be 50 people if we were lucky, but we still showed up. For Me St. Louis is a long Drive, but because of People like Dana, Bill and people who had the Faith and Courage enough to Show up, Not Knowing if they were Going to Be the only ones there, we had 1500 people, Tax Day we had 8,000…Most People I hope,Did Not show up because of Media Attention, or what “they” would say…I Show up because I Have to…Because I Will No Longer Stand By And Do nothing…and I have Faith in my Fellow Patriots that We Will Not Allow the Cry of Freedom to be stricken from the Modern World.
Make the Leap of Faith Andrew…Just like we Did in February…
Stand Up for The Future Generations……For Freedom..
No Matter the Location…Or the Obstacles in Our Way…
We Must Stand…
Rain or Shine I will be in Washington….
Join Me Andrew…Bring Friends….and We Will Make A Difference..We already have…
I am sorry to see some of the comments from the folks in Illinois I am from Washington and attended both the February and April Tea Parties. I also have friends from Taylorville who have attended both and are coming to Washington because they believe in what we are fighting for. It’s a drive, sure, but you may as well enjoy it now while you can still choose the vehicle you drive.
It’s July first and there’s still no agenda posted what is going on?
I meant July Second sorry
Just returned home after the Tea Party gathering. Great speakers. Very motivating. Interesting though that there was no media coverage for this event. Lots of faithful people coming out in the rainy weather to attend. But no media….hmmm perhaps we protest too peacefully. =) I can’t wait to attend the next gathering and do my part!
Glad to hear some loyal Patiots showed up in the rain. So, how many are going to Washington DC on 9/10? I’ll be amazed if 500,000 nationwide show up! Why? Because all the fair weather people stayed home! What’s it going to take to show the force to scare Washington? Absolutely nothing! We Americans aren’t desperate enough like our foreign brethren. Why should we put ourselves in harms way? Its really not that bad! Anyway, there’s a big difference between 1776 and 2009!
We loved the July 4th “St. Louis” Tea Party – it was a great beginning to our weekend. We were pleasantly surprised to see a few friends from St. Louis. I work at a university so none of my colleagues were there (of course?) but some neighbors and one of my wife’s co-workers were milling around. What a great crowd! It felt like we were among friends from start to finish. I loved the interuption by the fully loaded coal train and the empties returning.
Would anyone be interested in joining me for an impromptu “assembly” outside of Busch Stadium on July 14th? The POTUS (you know, the leader of the free world) is scheduled to throw out the first pitch at the MLB All-Star game and I’d love to express some of my opinions in some location near his presence.
