I think I should a new shirt, "WARNING: I am a right-wing extremist! I might actually want you to LEARN the constitution!" But then again, how am I going to fit that on one side? I'll find a way.

Fellow rational thinking people, may I suggest you ignore the detractors who have intentionally monopolized this discussion (24 posts from "Jellio" alone). If you do, they will eventually go away. As it is, you are falling into their trap. This is what they are trained to do by the liberal left. Ever heard the saying "Empty barrels make the most noise"? Jellio, JK & John (possibly all the same person) are living proof. PLEASE IGNORE IT.

I took my family to the Tea Party and it was really a great experience. People were respectful and we were able to let the government know we were not toothless hicks we are educated people worried about the direction our government is going. Yes we have been concerned for a long time, but the actions of our government over the last six months have put us over the top. Both parties are equally to blame. Since the democrats are in control right now of course they will take more heat. The government is the reason we are in the situation we are today and now they want to take control of Banks, Corporations and Health Care. We are becoming a socialist country. If I wanted to live in Europe I'd move. This movement is just the start of peacefully moving our country back to its founding principles. There are some who will poke fun at us call names try to get us off topic. Just ignore them. Anyone who thinks are taxes aren't going up in a hurry needs to wake up, because there is no way we can support the spending our government is doing without high tax increases on everyone. If the government is allowed to continue with this class warfare there will be only two classes left, the Rich and the Poor. I'm proud to be an American which was founded on Christian Principles. If we don't stand up and save our country then who will.

Nick,

The American voters tossed the Repubic Party and their right-wing extremist polices out in the 2006 and 2008 elections. Why? We were fed up with the stale mantra of tax cuts for the wealthy, business deregulation, and the inconscionable politically-motivated use of our fine military that resulted in record deficits, record income disparity, a recession, 40,000+ military casualties, and reduced US prestige in the world. Now, you and your kindred spirits would like to return us to the good old days of 2001-2008. By all means, work hard to convince the voters they were wrong in 2006 and 2008, but understand that you'll get your nose rubbed in every lie and exaggeration you make. But tell me, why would we listen to the same people that created this mess?

Regards,

"But, where were you for the last six years?"

It would seem that what is happening is a buildup over the last 6 years.
Perhaps you forgot that as the Republicans that controlled Congress started to spend money like drunken Democrats they lost seats in 2004, then as the public could no longer tell the difference between Democrats and Republicans they voted the Republicans out of control of the Congress in 2006.

So think about it. The angry public voted Republicans out of control of Congress in 2006 (or 3 years ago) So for the last 3 years we have had a Republican President, but the Government was ran by a Democratic Congress.

We then watched as a Democrat controlled Congress sat on their hands to make sure Republicans would get no credit for anything that would help them in the 2008 election.

Then along came Barry Soetoro (AKA Barack Obama), and an election where no one seemed to remember that the Democrats controlled Congress.

We "the people" gave more control to the "Do nothing Congress", and elected the most inexperienced person to the White House in our history.

Now we have a Congress that is spending money that it does not have with no one to control it. These people are spending money without even reading the bills they vote on.

The same Democrat controlled Congress that was responsible to prevent the economic problems we now have is using the problem to push pork spending through that would never be allowed any other way. They even voted themselves a raise.

And here we are.

All kidding aside, tell me that a Republican President could nominate so many Tax cheats to positions and not get ripped up. That a tax cheat could run the IRS.

Suzy,

Just my Federal tax return was 41 pages. I wish it were three. It cost me three weeks of groceries to prepare.

Honestly, if just some of my tax money goes to train Navy Snipers to shoot like they did just the other day, I'll gladly pay.

Taxes, though generally Satanic, sometimes do some good.

Maybe Obama will get a different outcome but this type of spending has never worked before. It only made things worse and prolonged and/or deepened recessions.

I don't mind paying taxes (ok so I do) the system is so messed up. Do you know how long it took me to do my taxes today? I am very proud though because I did them myself.
